Cardium Health Achieves 99% Participant Satisfaction in Annual Survey

Framington, CT (June 2005) — As part of the Cardium Health on-going commitment to meet or exceed customers’ expectations, each year the Company conducts an Annual Participant Satisfaction survey to measure performance of its disease management programs. Results of the most recent 2004 Annual Survey found 99% of participants rated the Company’s services as good to excellent in meeting the needs of individual participants.

The Annual Participant Satisfaction survey evaluates the Company’s disease management program performance in nine key areas:

  • Overall satisfaction
  • Technical skills of counselors including thoroughness, carefulness, and competence
  • Personal manner of counselors including courtesy, respect, sensitivity, and friendliness
  • Delivery of educational materials
  • Convenience of telephone services
  • Communication with Cardium Health counselors and other staff
  • Response and follow up for missed phone calls
  • Time spent with the counselor on the phone
  • Explanation of sessions and interventions

A part of the annual reporting measurements provided to all Cardium Health customers, the Participant Satisfaction survey is a direct reflection of the Company’s people-centered approach and its ability to connect with individuals to better manage their health. Comments received as part of the 2004 Annual Participant Satisfaction survey included:

“In my opinion my counselor is excellent. Where I work they say no one is perfect, however, I believe she should have the perfect score. I’m very satisfied with the help she has given me.” a Cardium Health heart disease participant

“Wonderful program. My counselor has given me a number of good ideas and tips, and I credit her ideas with the fact that I feel better, stronger, and kept my blood pressure down, Thanks.” a Cardium Health heart disease participant

“Thank you for my counselor. Just talking to her helps me want to take better care of myself. She brightens my day.” a Cardium Health diabetes participant

“My counselor is really good though even I don’t see her in person. She caring, understanding, and above all she has compassion and knowledge.” a Cardium Health diabetes participant

The Annual Participant Satisfaction survey is conducted by mail and is sent to all active participants enrolled in a Cardium Health disease management program. Participants complete the VSQ-9 questionnaire and return the survey to Cardium Health. In the 2004 survey, a 29% response rate was received which is highly significant and representative.

“We are extremely gratified by the results of the Participant Satisfaction survey,” said Patricia Simmons, a Cardium Health Clinical Operations Manager. “For disease management to achieve positive outcomes, it must start by making positive connections. Clearly, these results demonstrate that our approach works. As clinical professionals, our greatest reward is to improve the health of every participant we serve.”

As a company, Cardium Health has a commitment to three core values: real caring to improve individual lives, not just add lives under management; real cooperation for people management, not just disease management and real results for happier, healthier employees, improved productivity, and lower healthcare costs.
