Cardium Health Introduces: “A Day in the Life of a Cardium Health Participant” Multimedia Presentation Designed to Help Employers Promote Cardium Health Disease Management Programs and Encourage Enrollment

Farmington, CT (October 2005) – One of the greatest barriers to success in offering employer-sponsored health improvement programs and initiatives is encouraging individuals to enroll and participate. Cardium Health, a leading provider of health improvement and disease management programs to self-insured employers and employer groups, understands the dynamics of this challenge. To help its clients engage the widest yet most appropriate people for health programs, the company has developed a web-based communication tool to speak directly to potential candidates.

Called, “A Day in the Life of Cardium Health Participant,” it is a seven-minute multimedia presentation that allows potential candidates to “experience” what it is like to be an enrolled participant in a Cardium Health program. Supported by colorful graphics and an engaging soundtrack, an audio narration walks through the six steps of the Cardium Health Real Caring model from Identification and Enrollment through Program Graduation.

They are real people with real health concerns,” said Patricia Simmons, MS, RD, Cardium Health Clinical Operations Manager and one of the narration voices. “In creating this presentation, we put ourselves in the mindset of an individual with a diagnosed chronic condition. We tried to think about the questions he or she might have about the program and what it would mean to be an active enrolled participant. Speaking in clear, conversational language, our goal was to address possible concerns in a way that would effectively motivate people to begin on the path to better health.”

The multimedia presentation is available from Cardium Health to all of its clients offering employer-sponsored disease management programs. It is delivered as an electronic Flash file (5MB) for employers to post on their intranet Web sites. It can also be accessed directly on the www.mycardiumhealth.com portal.
